<p> CFE Federal Credit Union members and employees recently responded to the simple needs of local students by collecting new socks, undergarments and books for donation to several school district organizations. These organizations, Kids Closet, Families in Transition program and A Gift for Teaching, provide free clothing and basic school items to eligible children in Central Florida. They constantly need and appreciate support of businesses in the community.</p>

<p>To help stock the shelves at the Kids Closet and Families in Transition store, CFE donated a total of 1,170 clothing items, consisting of 561 pairs of socks and 609 undergarment pieces in several size options. Additional funds were collected during a corporate-wide Jeans Day, whereby employees who contributed $  5 to support the drive were allowed to wear jeans to work.    </p>

<p>In support of AGFT’s Annual Book Drive, CFE opened all 19 of their branches as designated drop off locations. Plus, CFE members and employees stepped up to the plate and donated close to 1,000 new and gently used children’s books along with $  300, enabling AGFT to buy even more books at a discounted rate for kids.  </p>
<p>&#13;</p>

<p>As a teenager in New York City, the Crown Heights, Brooklyn-bred emcee born Lason Jackson negotiated his first deal just as he was finishing high school. Having studied the game as a protégé of the Wu at the height of their success LA, who considers RZA a mentor, was more than prepared when an in-studio freestyle on Hot 97’s “The Stretch and Bobbito Show” drew the attention of major and indie labels alike. Securing a distribution deal through Navarre Distribution, he released his debut album Heist of the Century in 1999 through his own Embassy Entertainment. The project, on which LA also served as A&amp;R and executive producer, went on to sell over 350,000 copies independently. His success gave him an opportunity to tour internationally with the likes of Jay-Z, 50 Cent, and of course, the Wu-Tang Clan. Somehow, while he never stopped being an artist, LA’s career as a businessman took precedence. Relocating to Grand Rapids, MI, LA launched a management company, invested in real estate, and opened and operated a children’s clothing store. But he was always a musician. </p>

<p>Designer, Eduardo Lucero has dressed the glitterati and Jared Gold has placed his signature creations on music and celebrities as well.  They will be on hand to present their first-year young talent who personify the new breed of designers bubbling out of Southern California. Partly due to L.A. now being the largest apparel industry market in the country, a fashion trend is being propelled by young, multi-ethnic, urban designers and entertainment events like the Coachella Festival near Palm Springs April 14 – 22.   Then toss in music, art, and lifestyle emissary, Nic Adler, owner of The Roxy on the Sunset Strip and one has the perfect alchemy for a whole new breed of designer/artist/tech geek inspired culture.</p>

<p>A new element more important than main stream trend spotting, social media now provides a window into lifestyles and subcultures. “There is so much data that you need to take a step back and listen,” says fashion forecaster and Assistant Professor, Wendy Bendoni, with the Woodbury University Fashion Marketing Department. Her detective work involves keeping an attentive eye on what is happening in art and music across Alternative, Electronica, R&amp;B, Hip-Hop, Rap, Dance or World genres. “I search photos of girls at the weeklong Coachella Music Festival and other subculture events.  I look at the self-portraits they post on Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest and imagine the story they are telling about themselves. It’s about lifestyle, conversation, and monitoring. This is the information my clients want.</p>
